Friday night I was at a friend's house for dinner outdoors. At one point, I was alone in the garden and, noticing a cancerweed (Euphorbia peplus) plant, decided to try a drop of its latex on a small recent growth on my lower left eyelid. I did it and forgot about it; until at some point later in the evening I rubbed my eye. OUCH. It burned like hell for probably an hour until I fell asleep, and was uncomfortable for about 24 hours.
It wasn't until the next day that I remembered what I should have done. Occupy medics learned that to treat pepper spray, milk in a spray bottle worked well. The lipids absorbed the irritants and the water carried them away. I thought of using the little ultrapasteurized single-serving half-and-half containers seen at fast-food places, then my lady mentioned using them as eye cups. Hope to have some ready for next time I do something stupid.
